My Life In A Nutshell...

peanuts.jpeg

I've been 22 years old for 16 years now. I have recently postponed being a teacher and am now pursuing a degree in Computer Network System Administration. Being certified in three states and a province, I have a lot of experience as a teacher. (see resume)

Although I was born and raised in Eaton Rapids, Michigan, I am a registered member (Status Indian) of the Wikwemikong Unceded Indian Reserve located on Manitoulin Island, Ontario, Canada. I now live in Baltic, Michigan while I attend school.

I was born in Lansing, Michigan. I grew up in Eaton Rapids, Michigan and attended Eaton Rapids High School. I then attended Michigan Technological University, where I earned my Bachelor of Science in Mathematics ('95) as well as a Michigan Teacher Certification ('97) in Math and Science. I have since earned Teacher Certifications in Colorado ('98), Idaho ('00) and now Ontario ('05).

Because I was born in the U.S., I am an American. Because I am a registered member of a Canadian First Nation, I am Canadian. Therefore I have dual-citizenship. My current citizenship seems to be claimed by where I live and the driver's license I hold. An interesting tid-bit: A Canadian First Nation person can get a social security card to work in the U.S. in about two weeks, implying dual-citizenship. In contrast, an American Indian from the U.S. cannot seek a social insurance number (SIN) to work, nor seek citizenship of Canada. The U.S. accepts dual-citizenship while Canada does not. I believe a reason may include the benefits First Nation people receive in contrast to the United States. (e.g. health care, tax exemptions, etc.)

Awesome!

I love sunrises and sunsets. Here are photos of Manitoulin Island, where I reside. One photo is from Idaho.
